Little to no sleep
Three cups of coffee later
Faster beats the heart
Little to no sleep
Three cups of coffee later
Faster beats the heart
I sit alone
Like a flower in a bouquet, squeezed
Together with other fruit laptops,
Fresh haircuts and heart-shaped coffees, pleased
As the conversations are as casual as
A bee’s hum buzzing into my ears, even better
It is an improved silence, adjusted
To fit my mood, as it fits the weather
Comfort overwhelms me, as I listen
This community, this cafe, everyone
Alone, yet together
Read a book right to the letter
Words will then flow a bit better
Information will come
Take a sip of your rum
Now your opinions do matter
Young soul – abandoned
Childhood, never pardoned
Like a forgotten suitcase, left
Of parental love, bereft
Personally packed, carefully held
Thrown – onto the baggage belt
Traveled tens of thousands…
Tired
Time left to claim
Expired
The others – beautiful and cared for
Love-packed to their core
But the unopened lock – a token
Of unrequited love, truly
Heartbroken
Clothes never to be worn
For this suitcase, no one to mourn
Filled, like an overflowing bucket
Emptied, by those who struck it
Destined for the belt – a painful frown
The zipper breaks, condensation pours down
An unremorseful stop, no more spinning around
The sinkhole appears – no more ground
The apple was returned to its core
Due to your need to eat
But the apple’s revenge
Will forever remain between your teeth
To hold someone back
Is to push a ball under water
Until it is forced
To escape
